Tesco shoppers donate over 1500 meals for local people in need

26th November 2019

Truro shoppers donated a generous 2.52 tons of food to Truro Foodbank to help feed local people in crisis and a small army of volunteers gave their time to make the supermarket collection at Tesco such a success.

Last Thursday, Friday and Saturday volunteers asked shoppers to donate an item or two to help feed local people in crisis. Over 90% of the food that is given out by the foodbank is donated by the public which makes collections like this so important. The foodbank wouldn’t be able to run without public generosity.

Foodbank manager, Simon Fann, says, “A big thank you  to the generous Tesco customers and to Bob and Andy and all the volunteers and Nationwide staff that worked inside the store or outside sorting food and packing. Every contribution you made was an act that helped to achieve this blessed outcome. ”
