We’d love your support in this year’s Tesco Food Collection…

19th November 2020

If you’re heading to Tesco’s in Truro between Thursday19th and Saturday 21st November, then why not donate an item or two (or more!) during the annual Tesco Food Collection?
We welcome donations of non-perishable food items which can be stored easily and then handed out to local people in food crisis.
Our current needs are:
  •  Long-life fruit juice
  • Jams
  • Washing powder
But we have plenty of:
  • Tinned tomatoes
  • Pasta sauce
  • Pasta
This time of year can be very difficult for families and individuals who are already managing on extremely tight budgets.

The Food Collection is a partnership between Tesco, the Trussell Trust, and FareShare. For three days each year, in the lead-up to Christmas, Tesco organises and hosts a nationwide drive to encourage customers to buy an extra item or two of food when they shop in store and donate it at the collection point on their way out.
The food donated is used by the charities to support people who are struggling to put food on the table. Each participating Trussell Trust food bank is partnered with a local Tesco store.

ALL food donated is used locally and is an invaluable boost to food banks’ stocks at a time of year that is always extremely busy and when demand for emergency food is high.

Tesco generously tops up customer food donations, by making a financial contribution equivalent to 20% of the value of the food. So, by getting involved, you will not only help provide vital food for people experiencing crisis, but the top-up funding will help Trussell Trust food banks provide people with further support.

We are thrilled that the UK’s largest supermarket shares our vision that no one should go hungry, and is working together with the Trussell Trust and FareShare to empower local communities to fight poverty.
